In the heart of the Biosphere Reserve Terras do Miño, Lucus Augusti awaits visitors to show a wide diversity of natural and historical resources. The UNESCO has declared two monuments of Lugo as World Heritage of humanity: the Roman wall and the Cathedral. Lugo is also a key point for all pilgrims completing the Primitive Way to Santiago de Compostela.
With a large Roman heritage, including the wall, bridge, baths and mosaics; Old Temples converted in Museums, as the Domus de Mitreo (dedicated to the oriental god Mithras), or Casa dos Mosaicos (the house of the mosaics) and of course, the stunning Cathedral, Lugo has so much to offer, away from crowded cities. Its inhabitants will gratefully surprise you due to their pure kindness.
Best local gastronomy of Lugo will amaze you at zona de viños (an area in the centre of the city full of bars and taverns), where to try the famous tapas of Lugo: Praza do Campo, rua Nova, rua da Cruz… Winding along beautiful streets and squares of the Old Quarter.
Before leaving, stroll trough the river Miño. The promenade goes for 18 km in the city, visiting parks, a roman bath, bridge or the traditional neighborhood of A Ponte.
